Should they? Yes. Will they? No. Do they need to? No. Even if everyone wanted a Fusion or Sonata, Ford and Hyundai couldn't build cars fast enough to outsell the Camry. They don't have the production capacity.

We'll, Ford reached 400.000 units in Fusion capacity, this year. Toyota has about 460.000 of Camry capacity(the ones build by Subaru, in Indiana, too, I think). The difference is not that big,

Marketing department says that different models for differing markets is the best strategy. Even Hyundai Dell's the i40, instead of the Sonata, in the EU.
